Grey, Cloudy, Murky Water

Grey, Cloudy, Murky Water

Occasionally, pools can develop enough contaminants that traditional means of cleaning or clearing the pool do not seem to work. These pools are sometimes referred to by consumers as 'milk' or 'gray' pools.

There are many reasons for cloudy pool water. Unbalanced or untreated water, excessive organics, algae outbreak, inefficient filtration, poor circulation, metals or carbonates, are a few. Pools properly maintained on E-Z Pool do not have these problems.

The key to clear water can be found in the \"3 C's\": chemicals, circulation, and clean filter. The following treatments are designed to fix common issues associated with cloudiness in pools that have proper working equipment and circulation.

Treatment Protocol

24-Hour Pool Fix

  1. Balance Water. Note: If pool is green, double-shock accordingly.

  2. Add 5 scoops (2.5lb) of E-Z POOL® per 10,000 gallons of water around the perimeter of the pool.

  3. Run pump for 30 minutes while brushing the walls of the pool.

  4. Turn off pump.

  5. Spray 32oz Revive per 10,000 gallons of water over pool surface.

  6. Once debris has settled, vacuum pool (typically 24-48 hours later).

  7. Repeat if necessary.

  8. Resume normal pool maintenance or begin on the E-Z POOL® or PEPPER® program.
