Step OneBalance...Balance the pool water as follows:
pH: 7.2 – 7.4
Total Alkalinity: 80 – 120 ppm
Calcium Hardness: 250 – 400 ppm
CYA: 40 – 80 ppm
Salt Level: Refer to generator instructionsStep TwoAdd PEPPER®...Add PEPPER® directly in front of jet or broadcast over pool surface with pump running.
Initial dosage: Add 1 lb. per 10,000 gallons
Every 2 weeks: Add 1/2 lb per 10,000 gallonsStep ThreeTest chlorine...Test chlorine level after 7 days and adjust generator as needed. You will find that most generators can be operated at lower settings.

Why do I still need acid?
PEPPER® is formulated to control the higher pH normally associated with chlorine generator pools. When a pool has issues with circulation, correct equipment sizing, chlorine demand, or when the chlorine generator must be set to the highest settings to create a chlorine residual, a much higher pH must be overcome due to the generator running for longer periods. The amount of acid needed will be much less than when the pool is not on PEPPER®, but consumers may still need small amounts of acid from time to time.

Do I still need to regularly clean my salt cell?
Visual inspection of the cell on a routine basis is recommended. Salt pools on the PEPPER® system will have longer cycles between actual cleaning; in most situations once every season or every other season.

Why did my chlorine skyrocket after using PEPPER®?
The PEPPER® formula contains a strong oxygen-based oxidizer that lowers chlorine demand significantly,thus, the chlorine generator should be turned to a lower setting. If the generator is not turned down, it will make too much chlorine.

Why is my PEPPER® hard?
The biggest culprit for hardened product is moisture. Moisture tends to make the once loose granules meld together.
